About Health Coaching Australia

Health Coaching Australia (HCA) has been a leader in defining and developing health coaching professional practice and training in Australia. During 2007, HCA trained approximately 800 health professionals in two-day introductory workshops, each with a maximum of 22 participants per workshop. Our participants were from the following professions:

  • Dietitians & Nutritionists
  • Exercise Physiologists & other Exercise Scientists
  • Dentists and Dental Hygienists
  • General Practice Doctors
  • Nurses: Including Practice Nurses, Diabetes Educators, Community Health Nurses, and Chronic Condition Self-management Key Workers.

  • Physiotherapists
  • Podiatrists
  • Psychologists
  • Public Health Managers and Health Promotion Specialists
  • Social Workers
  • Speech Pathologists

Services Provided

HCA provides the following professional services in Health Coaching:

  • Professional training in Health Coaching for qualified health professionals:
    • Two-day Introduction to Health Coaching for Health Professionals
    • One-day Skills Consolidation workshops for practitioners who have completed the two-day introductory workshop
    • One-day Skills Practice workshops for practitioners who have completed both the Introductory and Skills Consolidation workshops
    • Certificate of Competency in Level 1 Health Coaching. A certificate can be awarded upon completion of the above three workshops, if completed in combination with particular assessments.

HCA workshops for individual registrations: Individuals can attend HCA workshops for individual registrations. These workshops are usually run in capital cities and large regional centres (eg, Melbourne, Sydney, Geelong and Wollongong). More Information>>

In-house workshops for health organisations. Health organisations (Community Health Services, Divisions of General Practice, PCPs, professional organisations etc), can host an In-house workshop to be conducted in the organisation’s location for its staff.   More Information>>

  • HCA can provide presentations and mini-workshops from 1 hour to 3 hours in length. Contact Janette Gale for more information.
  • HCA provides consultancy services to organisations wishing to incorporate health coaching into Chronic Condition Prevention or Self-management and other programs within the organisation.  Contact Janette Gale for more information.
  • HCA conducts Health Coaching Symposia and Information Days for medical and health professionals, in conjunction with various co-sponsor health and professional organisations.
